Morphix is an Open Source/Free Linux distribution, based on Debian GNU/Linux and Knoppix. Morphix is a modular distribution with live-CD support that an be tested without the need to install. It is still experimental, but it is growing in popularity. Users can choose among Morphix ISO images such as an XFCE4-based one for low-end systems, Gnome 2.2 or KDE 3.1 for higher-end desktops, and a game ISO for gaming enthusiasts. Prakash Advani conducted an email interview with Alex de Landgraaf, the founder and the lead maintainer of the project. Alex is 21 years old and a student of artificial intelligence and computer science at the Vrije Universiteit (Free University) in Amsterdam. He reports he loves coding, Debian, gaming, beer, music, and more beer. He hates bugs (alive or self-caused), short-sighted people, and too much fresh air.

CEO, Chairman and Co-founder of LightSurf, Philippe Kahn's name seems to be synonymous with success. This is his third successful company: Starfish Software (founded in 1994) and Borland International (1982) being the other two. Having done his graduation and postgraduation in pure mathematics, Philippe was one of the first key programmers for the Micral, the Intel based machine developed in France and recognized by The Computer Museum as the first personal computer available outside a build-it-yourself kit. Prakash Advani interviewed the man who spearheaded the object-computing revolution and the move to component-based software, changing software development methodologies forever.

IBM's recently announced billion dollar fund is proof that IBM is serious about Linux. Here, Mr. Robert LeBlanc talks about a variety of issues including the reasons for choosing Linux, the status of Monterey and the release of AIX code into the open source community.
