Now it has come out with BLIP, a small self-contained device that can communicate wirelessly with mobile phones, PDA's and other devices that are connected through Bluetooth wireless technology. A mini tool, BLIP stands for "Bluetooth Local Infotainment Point".

CEO, Chairman and Co-founder of LightSurf, Philippe Kahn's name seems to be synonymous with success. This is his third successful company: Starfish Software (founded in 1994) and Borland International (1982) being the other two. Having done his graduation and postgraduation in pure mathematics, Philippe was one of the first key programmers for the Micral, the Intel based machine developed in France and recognized by The Computer Museum as the first personal computer available outside a build-it-yourself kit. Prakash Advani interviewed the man who spearheaded the object-computing revolution and the move to component-based software, changing software development methodologies forever.

SuSE 7.1 finally reached FreeOS and boy, were we eagerly awaiting this new release! It has lots of new additions like kernel 2.4 (the first to support 2.4 final), XFree86 4.0.2 (with anti-aliasing support) and the new glibc 2.2. Although we did get it a little late, we went ahead and reviewed the package and here's our opinion.

Like most other Open Source geeks, I would love calling myself a Linux evangelist. And this for two simple reasons--I love traveling and second and more important, I love talking about how Open Source has revolutionized Information Technology. But at the same time, I must admit that there are few aspects that Linux falls short in. In this article I touch upon a few hurdles, which in my opinion obstructs its progress to the desktop.
